Koop, the duo of Oscar Simonsson and Magnus Zingmark, seem to grasp what many other trip-hop production units never did – that, no matter which instruments are used in your productions, digital or acoustic or electric, a sense of place is what should never be lost. Their debut album Waltz for Koop, with its languruous textures and tugging sense of melancholy, one-upped a parade of other deservedly recognized acts who had come in the wake of Air (groups like Royksopp, Zero 7, and Groove Armada).

Guitarist Nicola Conte's sixth recording as a leader is a vocal tour de force, as five different singers split up duties on select tracks. With a substantial horn section pulled from the jazz ranks, Conte takes on the role of producer more than instrumentalist, while exploring various strains of Latin jazz backings for his words and music that are mostly from his personal book of tunes.

Jazzanova are proud to announce their next full length, The Pool, is due for release via their own Sonar Kollektiv on June 29th 2018. It is their most mature and musical album yet and welcomes a host of talented collaborators including Jamie Cullum, Ben Westbeech, Pete Josef, Rachel Sermanni, Olivier St Louis, Paul Randolph and many more.

An odd reissue of sorts, Bending New Corners combines tracks off two of trumpeter Erik Truffaz's previous albums. It is unclear why Blue Note felt the need to repackage these tracks yet again; however, here they are and they are worth a listen. Containing tracks from the sessions that produced The Mask and its European version, The Dream, Bending New Corners is a groove-oriented work that draws heavily on late-'60s and early-'70s Miles Davis.

Gabin, named after iconic French film noir star Jean Gabin, offers some jazzy house, with an unmistakable European flavor – and it’s not just the singing in French and Spanish, either. “La Maison” and “Azul Anil” are obvious crowd-pleasers, with smooth deep beats and melodies that instantly transport you to a Mediterranean beach party.

The original Gabin a French actor known for his portrayals of jaded, faded anti-heroes in 1930s and '40s-era films might have chuckled ironically if he had been told that, a half-century after his heyday, two Italian musicians would name a fledgling lounge music project after him. But if he had listened to the music, he would have understood. It's full of languid grace and melancholy and is undeniably stylish exactly what you'd expect to hear in a Parisian café or supper club. Just to add to the effect, many of the song titles and lyrics are in French.

Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of Hey Eugene! with Splendor in the Grass, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on Eugene!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, Sympathique, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop.

The first thing to understand about this is that it's not a new album by the lovely Evora. It's not even a straight reissue of old material. Instead, this is Evora remixed, with much of the material coming from her classic Miss Perfumado set. To many, it doesn't sound like a good idea, but it has to be said, it's been done with taste, and there's been little tampering with the vocals, thankfully.

Don't call it a comeback ? sixteen years and a few hundred thousand sold copies after his internationally successful debut album "Newcomer", Llorca plants exciting new seeds with his soulful sophomore effort "The Garden".

The German act Moca's first full-length album slips excitingly between categories, and by its hard-to-categorize nature is infinitely more interesting and listenable than the sorts of albums where the listener hears four measures and can already peg exactly which of the myriad subcategories of electronic dance music to slot it into. At its base, Wroooooooooam is pure old-school house, early-'90s style, with its prominent, easy-to-digest beats and occasional snippets of soul diva vocals. But on top of that, there's more than a little downtempo mellowness.

The work of Robert Glasper and Terrace Martin can be found across the musical landscape. The men have contributed to music by Quincy Jones, Kendrick Lamar, Common, Kanye West, Mos Def and Q-Tip, to name just a few, and now they've teamed up with jazz trumpeter Christian Scott, bassist Derrick Hodge, drummer Justin Tyson and multi-instrumentalist Taylor McFerrin to form R+R=NOW, a band packed with influence from multiple musical genres, including jazz, soul, R&B and hip-hop.

Club des Belugas is one of the leading Nujazz bands in Europe, perhaps in the world. They combine contemporary European Electro, Lounge & Nujazz Styles with Brazilian Beats, Swing and American Black Soul of the fifties, sixties and seventies using their unique creativity and intensity.
